I wonder if all threads that start with 'Vodka' get this much attention!!!

Somewhere I saw the recipe for "Best Press" and jotted it down... 1tsp lavender essential oil, 3 oz. vodka, 24 oz. distilled water. shake well. That's all I got and I don't have a clue where I got it.

I tried this vodka pressing mix with some top shelf vodka when a thread was going a few months ago. It worked and my DH didn't complain about the smell like he did Best Press. So DH bought me some cheap vodka for my next batch. NO DIFFERENCE! Still works like magic. I am going to pick up some lavender essence oil today if I can find it but I'll go slow so I won't offend DH's nose. I am pretty sure that the small bottle of vodka he bought was less than what I paid for the smallest best press and I am no where close to using it up.

I'm not sure but I do know we use the cheapest Vodka on the shelf. We also add liquid starch which is not easy to find these days.
We make it up in gallons and give little spray bottles of the "stuff" as door prizes at our guild meetings and camps.
We call it the "Witches Brew"

Would you mind sharing where you can get Best Press online for a gallon, with free shipping, for about $40? At my local quilt store, it is cheaper to buy 2 quarts than one gallon. They don't know why it costs them more for the gallon, but they tell everyone.

If you google best press, you get lots of places to buy online:

I loved this post...quite a few chuckles. I don't like to drink vodka, but buy it to make homemade vanilla.

I do feel guilty when I use the vodka mix on kids' quilts.

This is a very enjoyable thread, I must say. I am not a drinker either because of health reasons mostly, but wonder if Vodka has an alcohoholic smell to it? When you press it does it smell like vodka?

I've been using the vodka sizing for about 10 months. Works great. I used a 'linen' fragrance when I made it - very light clean smell. Found it at walmart near the candle supplies.
