I asked this question of Accuquilt GO or Studio owners and found that they sort fabric and scraps by SIZE. They are anticipating what die to use to get the most use out of the scrap. Prior to getting a cutter, I sorted them all by color. That's really a different way to think.

I've refined my ideas about cutting. I've decided to pick out several patterns and cut pieces for those; if I make four or five of the same quilt pattern for homeless folks in the same year, oh, well. It will still keep them warm. Here is one of Bonnie Hunters quilts that should be good for charity quilts. It only needs a 3.5 x 6.5 rectangle and either 2 inch strips or 2 inch squares. I have those dies. If I cut those and put them in the same box together, I'll be all set to sew.
