I really don't think a 4 oz batting is too thick. Careful pinning and the use of a walking foot should solve the problem.

    Thanks everyone :-)

I did use pins and a walking foot, but i think probably not enough pins lol. I have an quilt that i bought once and compairing it to the quilt i made i think that its about 2oz thick, where as mine is 4oz. Sigh, im gona take a break for a few days and undo it all again (pulling out my hair). Its a nice quilt with lots of oranges and yellows for a baby. Thanks again everyone. Ill post a pick when my camera is working lol.

I always pin, pin and pin. If I look at it and THINK I need to pin more, then I will pin, pin and pin some more!
I also use my dining table (when available) to lay my quilt on. I clamp the bottom down once it is nice and smooth. Then lay the batting on top, smooth that out and clamp it, then lay the top on and will clamp that. Then, pin, pin, pin.
Most of the time I use my sewing table which is a 6 ft banquet table, but it's getting harder and harder on my back since I can only reach from one side.
