Saw a post on here within the last week and went to my local Wal Mart to check it out. I have to say I was very impressed with the selection and the quality of the fabric. Fat quarters are only $1.00 and the rest of the cuts are quite reasonable. Lots of kids prints and bright colors---great for those donation quilts. I bought 2 red and 1 purple fat quarter and washed them and you cannot tell the difference from the LQS fabrics. They have also brought back thread, and have some kits. Looks like Wal Mart listened to all of us quilters, maybe not totally the way we would like, but they are trying to keep us somewhat happy. Go check it out.

I looked at some of the FQ's at one of our local Wal-Mart's and the fabric was soooooooo thin. It was marked $1. I passed on it. I'm glad your quality is better than ours.

I haven't been in ours in ages. Maybe I need to check it out again.

I hope my local Wal-Mart gets them. Right now the closest LQS or Joann's is 20 miles away.

Although my pocketbook appreciates the extra mileage as I wouldn't be there so often.

i will agree that shoppers should try their best to feel each and every fat quarter that interests them in the walmart precut sections. most are quite nice for the price. some are quite not. overall, though, i'd say they are worth a look. :-)

yesterday i received my latest order of [what i like to call] snooty fabs. shop stuff.

something strange is going on. most of it is the same weight and feel as much of the newest stuff showing up in the walmarts with fabric on bolts and/or precuts.

seriously ... and i know i've mentioned this before ... you absolutely cannot tell the difference between my most recent wally purchase and several of the shop fabs in my stash. cross my heart, and confirmed by a friend.

    interesting. very interesting.

I bought a 2 1/2 jelly inch roll. When I opened it looked like some of the color have ran and in the middle the strips were 1 inch. I took it back. I have looked at the FQ, but my encounter with the jelly has made me think twice. I always past it up.

Our WalMart has some great fabric on the bolts, but the FQ's, jelly rolls and other pre-cuts leave a whole lot to be desired, thin, flimsy and color assortments that are "out there."
