I have the generic ones. The plastic cover can be popped off and there is a tiny screw that needs to be tightened. Easy fix if this is the kind you have. And I did not know about not sewing in reverse. THanks.

It really depends on the specific foot (and probably the specific machine) whether you can sew in reverse or not. Some you can't, some you can.

I bought mine on eBay quite a few years ago and haven't had any trouble with it...generic slant shank for my old Singer. We have an original Singer one at the shop that keeps falling apart, but it's not too hard to put back together.

Well...I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm going to look for an old original Singer WF. I've been machine quilting without the WF lately. It's just stitch in the ditch...nothing fancy. I ease up on the foot pressure. It works OK, but I'd rather use a WF.

My $100.00 Viking walking foot fell apart and I figured how to snap it back together. I have a generic one that is still going. Go figure.

I feel your pain! My walking foot came apart today as I was finishing the binding. Aghh. Went to a regular foot to finish the quilt. Looks like I should be able to attach the two pieces. If not then I will bring it with me to the upcoming quilt show and ask for help from the janome dealer. Nothing is ever easy as we think.
