My machine is an older Janome, and I have the walking foot particular to my machine and was told not to use reverse, my machine does have a locking stitch for use at start and end of sewing. As the foot was expensive to buy, not taking any chances, hoping to pick up new machine sometime in the next week or two, will let you know my choice and whether I can reverse with the walking foot or not.

Thanks to all you great members for the help. I knew I could count on you. Will check my walking foot & its possibilities.

You just never know when you start reading a thread exactly how good the info you get may be. I have never used my walking foot with my Brother Innovis 4000D. Now, I am going to have to go check it, and, maybe start using it. This, after the machine is 8 years old. haha

I guess it depends on the walking foot, I think alot of the newer ones allow you to do so much more. Mine does it both plus decorative stitches, double needle, etc.

I have a Baby Lock and have used the reverse with my walking foot many times. I have never had a problem.

I have a Baby Lock Jane and a Juki TL98QE and sew reverse on my bindings. Never had a problem. I do keep an extra walking foot. Attachments for both machines are interchangeable.

I had always heard that you should not use a walking foot backward. I sew backward with the one on my Bernina. No problem. I have not tried it with the one on my Featherweight and probably never will.
