I also have a peg board. It is so covered with stuff, it does not matter what the board looks like.

If you mount a piece of wood behind it on 3 sides you can make a pocket to hold the big measuring equipment. Then I hung an old baby bed springs on the wall and clip things to it.

The benefit of the pegboard is that you are not locked into a specific configuration. You can move stuff around as needed. The only thing to remember when you install it is it can't go right up against the wall. You need to have little spacers so the hooks have somewhere to go.
Thank you for that advice! I'm getting ready to hang a framed 4x4 foot pegboard and I never thought to leave some space behind it for the hooks that I purchased

I used ped board with a frame around it, but before I placed the frame around it I covered it with OLD patterns. All glued on with a finish I could wipe down. Due to the patters having black ink on them, I used black paint on the frame. The patterns give the board an oldfashined twal (sp).

Some of my rulers do not have a hole in them that I could put a hook in. Do you drill a hole in the ruler or hang them with binder clips or what do you use?

I started using the 3M command handers and I think they are great! Of course, I do not have handy husband to put up shelves, etc. so the 3M really worked well for me.

I have peg board like a lot of people. It is painted the wall color. This way it is really east to move them around as I buy new rulers. I do like the rails for scissors etc. I will have to get me some at Ikea.
