I am making a wallhanging with a Japanese theme using 100% cottons. I have preshrunk all my fabrics. My question is about batting. Can anyone please let me know if I should preshink it or not? I have heard that washing a quilt whose batting has not been preshrunk will give it an antique look. I would love that, but is it appropriate with a Japanese theme? Is there such a thing as an "antique Japanese quilt"?. Any help or advice much appreciated.

For wall pieces, I like to use poly batting, no pre-washing required. Thick, heavy battings are best for horizontal use. I have some beautiful Asian fan fabric, and there are some incredible patterns out there.

    Can we see?
