We were in Walmart tonight and a Walmart employee who used to work in the fabric department there before it closed told my husband to tell me that they are getting the Fabric Department BACK!!! She heard today that we were to get it back JUly 11.!! Now this calls for a happy dance, if any thing does. I think they are listening to all of us quilters and our thoughts and $$$$$$ matter to them after all!

We like Walmart prices, but sometimes I do get much better deals and quality at Joann's. Especially with the coupon.

Me too, but Walmart is in town, and the two Joann's closes to me are about 20-30 miles away. My hubby calls me 'Coupon Queen,' because I'm always clipping and printing coupons for Joann's, Michaels' and Hancock Fabrics so I can go to Joann's and use them. I'm no where like the Extreme Couponers on TLC!

I am happy for you. I live in a very small town and Walmart is our only place to buy fabric without driving to a neighboring town.

I don't believe petitions and customer complaints were the reason why Walmart brought fabric departments back. The fact of the matter is this: They lost a major buying force: quilters, clothing makers, scrapbookers, crafters etc. We fabric artists have the buying power to change the fabric industry. If we get together collectively like we did when a major fabric source like Walmart decided to experiment with our hobby/businesses we would be a serious force to deal with in the fabric industry. As for getting Walmart to change their minds. Well done quiltboard.

It was in the newspaper a while back that Walmart was bring back a lot of products that they had discontinued. It seems that people had complained about not being able to get the things there any more. I think that it was mostly food items. I said something to an employee about the fabric at the time, and she said that she didn't think they'd bring back the fabric that needed to be cut. She said that we had one of the largest displays of the precut fabric and should be happy with that. NOT!!
I did have a dream a while back that I was in Walmart and they had fabric on bolts. The place they had the fabric in my dream was up at the front of the store by the jewelry. But I don't think they will put them there. It will be interesting to see just where they do put them.
