Before my Walmart stores closed fabrics, I bought a nice stash. You just have to pick and chose and sometimes the better fabric goes on sale if it is not moving well---just watch. If you notice some of the bolts will even say quilting calico on ends, be nice fabric and still only be 1.50 or 2.00 a yard.

I have always bought fabric everywhere. I think you have to watch for quality anywhere you buy, & I have found some great fabrics at Walmarts in the past. I hope they all get their fabric depts back, we need them too, just like the LQSs, don't we!

Oh, you better believe that I buy fabric at Walmart! I am choosy, but I'm choosy in the LQS, too.

I have had good luck with the fabrics I bought, too. Now I'm noticing an upward trend in pricing, though.

I've purchased the $1.50 yard fabric, too, as long as I know it's 100% cotton. It works fine for what I want to do with it.

I am stocked up with Christmas fabric, too, because last year I happened to walk into the store on the day they marked it down to ---- 68 cents a yard. I missed it this year - all the Christmas fabric is gone, and I didn't even get one yard of it!

I think if Walmart ever advertised their fabric in their weekly circular, they'd be mobbed all week long. I have written to Walmart and told them that I can buy groceries, clothes, TVs, stationary, beauty supplies almost anywhere. What brings me into Walmart is the fabric! When I'm there for fabric, 95% of the time, I buy many other things, too. My guess is that most of us who buy fabric at Walmart do the same.

I went to Joann's the other day and couldn't find a single piece I thought would work for my baby quilt. I wanted brown and turquoise. Went to WalMart Sunday and found the cutest turquoise with brown polka dots and brown with turquoise polka dots. Just what I wanted. It is VIP fabric and feels pretty good. Sure hope they don't close the fabric dept. there.

Hi from Georgia, I would love to have a fabric department in our town. There is none of any kind. It would be great if you would list your town in GA if your Walmart still has a fabric department. If it was a reasonable distance I would be spending the money I have squirred away. Thanks

Our local Walmart closed their fabric department a couple of years ago. But just this week they have signs up that they are bringing back the fabric after their remodel. Estimated return of fabric department in 4-8-11.

I was told by my WM that they remodel and then only bring in fabric in 2yd pieces like packaged items so they don't have to cut anymore.

No cutting fabric = no jobs for local employees. I, personally, do not care for the fabric after the remodel but bought what I liked that was good before they did away with their fabric. I now buy lesss but spend more $ on fabric.
