Glad you got fabric back! The closest Walmart to me opened up about the time they were phasing out the fabric departments so it never had fabric. I doubt if we ever get it, but I can go just a little further to one that has fabric.

They are remodeling my Wal*Walmart and we have fabrics, but they have the same fabric they have had for a few years. Hoping they inlarge the fabric area and bring back DMC threads for cross stitching.

I have not seen the new Wal-Mart lines - will have to see if my local store has them. Someone mentioned that the more expensive new lines are by Springs.

And, you know, Springs also does lines for JoAnn Fabrics; I believe the Susan Winget designer fabrics are made by Springs. And the quality of the printing is nice.

The reason I'm commenting is... have you seen the price that JoAnns charges for those? Last time I checked it was $12.99 / yard. Now, you know that is a phony price. If Wal-Mart is selling a comparable fabric for about $8 / yard, well, let's do some math. Most of us know not to buy anything from JoAnn's unless you have a 40% off coupon ... and 40% off of $12.99 is $7.80. So guess what? That marvelous coupon gives you a 20 cents/yard savings off of what would be a *fair* retail price.

Gee but I hate marketing gimmicks! Don't you think it would be easier if stores just charged a fair price every day? Then we could freely buy what we need for our projects when we need it, rather than having to wait for sales and then go on a buying binge, trying to anticipate what we *might* need down the road (and sometimes guessing wrong, which wastes money in the long run).

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Ours told us that they are sending the fabric department away, which is strange in a town that has no fabric stores and is at least 30 miles from the closest big town that does have fabric stores. Seems weird to me. So much for convenience.

    Default Walmart

The one to the west of me has a full sewing dept., but I don't get over that way very often. The one to the east of me had a full sewing dept., but redid it a couple of years ago and haven't got anything I care to look at or buy. This one has all these ugly little bundles. I hate them.

Ours came back about 8 months ago and I did the happy dance. One of the employees is in our guild, she just finished pricing 168 bolts! No room! Gotta add tables! I am thrilled. Lots of good stuff, some thin stuff, but team logos in regular and fleece, flannels, fancy stuff, even some really fun animal print "leather" on one side and sherpa on the other!

Our closest Walmart is less than 5 miles from our house. They took away all the fabric except for a few precuts that did not sell. However, they have recently brought back bolts of reasonably priced quilter grade fabric. kIt made me wish that I didn't already have tubs of fabric stacked nearly to the ceiling in my sewing room.

Our Wal Mart has a small amount of fabric on the bolt but there is never anyone there to cut it for you. I can see why they cannot afford to have a person there at all times because there isn't a big demand for service in this area, but it sure burns my B--- to have to wait so long for them to call someone. I once started to unroll my fabric as if to cut my own and someone came running. They told me I couldn't do that because I didn't have the "gun" to figure out the price for the yardage. I said "Guess they will have to call someone to the REGISTER when I check out to figure what I owe!" She then cut me what I needed.
