The WM in Myrtle Beach still has fabric - it does a booming business. The fabric is why I go there; when it's gone, well, I can get everything else WM has somewhere else.

Our Walmart closed their fabric department 3 years ago and they closed another one that is about 40 miles away 2 years ago.
Our WM hasn't even gotten precut fabrics yet. Our LQS and JoAnn's prices are really high in this area, so I wait until there is a really good sale.

I agree! Without the fabrics, I usually only go to Wal-Mart when I can't find something anywhere else - now maybe once every 2-3 months! I do a LOT of fabric shopping online. I know sometimes you just want to touch it before you decide, but have found some good buys online & usually receive my orders very fast. We have a one true quilt shop left in town (fabrics are beautiful but quite expensive), a couple of sewing machine shops w/ some limited fabric & threads (again, expensive), Hobby Lobby (thank goodness) & a small JoAnn's on the other side of town. I hit Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's when I have a coupon or need something right away. Otherwise, it's online for me. Thankfully I have a pretty good stash & only have to shop to supplement it or for other sewing projects.

I was at a WM in Vegas over the weekend that got rid of their fabric dept. and went to packaged cuts about 1 1/2 years ago. Now all of their packaged cuts are in the clearance aisle. All other quilting and sewing supplies is gone. So makes me wonder if after a while everything will be gone in all stores.
