Ours has always had fabric and quilting stuff and today I was there for a new cutting mat and the clerk was putting up boxes of new stuff that didn't even have prices on it yet. They don't have quilting stencils, though. I have to go to Hobby Lobby for those or a specialty quilting shop, and they are usually expensive there, so I order those online.

Yours looks terrific! I went to ours yesterday. The prices have gone up up up. All the wonderful bargain bolts -$2.50-3.50 a yard - were gone. Someone cut them up into messy remnant lumps and crammed them into drawers. Most didn't even have prices. I did need some fabric, but no one was around. This used to be the case months ago, but it had improved. So ... I did what I did in the past - and what workers I pulled off the floor from other departments also did in the past. I measured my own fabric, took stickers out of the drawer and marked how many yards at the price per yard. I sure hope ours gets its act together.

I have two WM in my are. The one that is farthest away from me never did get rid of fabric. The one closest to me did and they are putting it back in. Went by there yesterday and they were putting stuff on the shelves. She said to give them a week or so and they would be up and running. The one that did get rid of their fabrics is in the process of remodeling and they have brought in a smaller cutting table. That just saves more room for fabrics since the table they had before, half of it was used for misc stuff.

I don't know, Walmart lost my business when they pulled the fabric and craft department. Not sure if they will get this customer back. The gals at Hancock's is pretty good to me!
What will this do to our lqs's I wondered? Gee, wish I could support them all.

You need to be very careful about buying fabric at Walmart. Sometimes the quality/durability is not as good as quilt shop fabric (and even that varies from shop to shop, sometimes). After you put all the work into a project you want it to last for a very long time. A little more money at times is a good thing.
