I am dept. manager of a Wal*Mart in Ohio and I feel I have a very good selection of fabric. I order hundreds of yards weekly trying to stay in stock since one about 20 minutes away closed their dept. I have been told that I to will lose my fabric when we remodle with should be within a couple of years. I hope with the added business from the other two stores, they will let me keep mine! I was told all but about 200 stores would lose the dept. and new stores being built aren't including fabric. I really feel this will do nothing but hurt our business. I haven't talked to anyone who is happy about the situation. Keep complaining, it might do some good. :(

    http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_pe...ed.cgi?savefab

This petition has been on line for several years.

over 43.405 people have signed. if you read it, you will see that many, many said they would stop shopping at Wal-Mart when the Fabric Depts closed. They have closed the departments, but what has happened to sales? Does anyone know the answer to that question?

Wal-Mart will do as Wal-Mart pleases.

    I signed it...........did you???

The Wal-Mart in Mt. Vernon, OH still has a very nice fabric department.
Originally, they closed out their fabric and it was sold at 50% off, then all of the prices went back up and they got fabric in again. Not sure how much longer we wil have it, but if they close, we will only have 2 quilt shops but their fabric gets kinda expensive. All of the rest of the fabric stores will be 1 hour away.

Longview, TX stores still have fabric. I'm being told that it may be shut down after the first of the year. The fabric department, I mean.

We have two Walmarts in Orlando that still have material. Our Sewing Guild got in the internet to the corporation and ask them to keep the fabric. they're not the greatest, but sure come in handy and I have found some pretty good buys over the years. Our regular Walmart was rebuilt on site into a super store but they still kept the fabric.
