I have an elna ... 25 years old... and it pulls to the left too.... I have to hold the material over to the right and keep it there.... thinking of buying a brother but from what I have read here I am having second thoughts....

After changing the pressure feet (increased the pressure) the problem is solved! Am so thrilled this was the solution. Sewing a straight line is no longer a battle! There are some wonderful solutions here and looks like a lot of people were helped. Thank you to every one for your ideas.

I had a Brother that had the same trouble. I thought perhaps the feed dogs were not set high enough, but I could never get any help from Brother. Perhaps I didn't know where to look. It was a weak feed. I finally donated it to a senior center that did quilting and let them worry about it. Never will I buy another Brother.

This was not a cheap Brother. With attachments it was almost $400.
