Warm or hot water, it depends... Hand dyed, batiks, reds, blues and blacks all get hot water as they seem to me to have the most tendency to bleed and I want to make sure it all comes out  The rest using warm, as most of the time this is how they will be washed once the quilt is finished.

Thanks Amma.Ii was thinking about the same Do you put vinager and anything in the water to set the dye?

. I'm making a sampler type quilt, a BOM , from BlockCentral. Iwanted to use the fabrics as the example and had to order out of Portland, I live in Alberta. By the way Iam very pleased with the shop's service and price . They had all but one on sale. The store is The Quited Castle. i think it is a small family owned business.

    You are welcome :D:D:D
I don't use vinegar but many on here do. I have used Retayne on some fabrics and it works well.

I wash in warm water and put the fabric in the dryer. I serge the cut edges before I wash it so it doesn't fray. I use Retayne on the hand dyes and batiks to set the dyes.
