Read that cotton batting is best for hand quilters to use. Is "warm and natural" a cotton batting? Have just finished my first quilt and still have lots of questions.

Yes, all cotton, needled onto a very fine "scrim" that helps it to hold together. It's great because you can quilt at about 10" apart and it won't bunch up or separate. It drapes beautifully, and is just warm enough. It leaves the quilt soft and cuddly.

I had used poly forever and than tried warm and natural. I'll never go back. It feels so nice.

Warm n Natural is a cotton batting, but it's needlepunched through scrim. The scrim makes it somewhat more difficult to hand needle than a cotton batting without scrim.

My favorite cotton batting, Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon 100% cotton, is hard to needle also but for different reasons -- uneveness, oils in the batting, etc.

One of the better battings for hand quilting is Hobbs 80/20 (80% cotton 20% polyester). A lot of hand quilters also like Quilter's Dream (a flatter batting than Hobbs, I think).

If you Google you will find many onlines stores that carry these. Here is a link to Hobbs 80/20 at Hancock's of Paducah:

Here's a link to the Quilter's Dream website with quite a dizzying array of options. They have a "User Guide" there that may be helpful, and they have a way of searching for locations that carry this brand. I think "Request" weight is the one most often used by hand quilters.
