warning: spray adhesive seeping through topper
I've been using a mini quilt I made over a year ago as a table topper on my night-table. The other day I tried to slide it and it was stuck. When I peeled it up, it appeared to have adhesive behind it, which now stuck to the wooden table, removing some of the finish. The spot was under a leak-proof oil diffuser, so I think it may have been the pressure of the weight of it (not too heavy) that may have caused the adhesive to squeeze out. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I did spill some water several months ago, but I immediately removed the topper and dried everything before putting it back.
Now I'm afraid to use spray adhesive on toppers, placemats, etc.

Might have been the heat from the diffuser, and it might have done that with a plain piece of cotton/batting/backing! Try a small sandwich without spray, leave it and see if that happens. Some wood finishes are soft and heat does affect them.

Well I didn't use heat in the diffuser, and I don't THINK I used very much adhesive, but I sure am gun-shy about using it again. Thanks for the info about Sullivan's. I will try that next time, IF I don't chicken out of using it any more. It surely did make layering easier....decisions, decisions!
Thanks all for your responses.

I love 505 but use very little and always wash my quilts to remove the 505 as well as the fabric sizing. Plus I love the way the quilting looks after being washed. I do not dry my quilts in the dryer but fluff them once dry.
