I wash it. I like the old fashioned crinkled look.

My thoughts exactly! Love that krinkle. And I want to be the first to know if something happens in the wash. And I provide written washing instructions.

I have done both. Now I use synthropol in a delicate cycle to wash finished quilts and dry low until dry. So far it works great!

Speaking of washing, I always wash the fabrics before I quilt to control shape, shrinkage, etc. What I found, however, when washing a quilt that got a quick spill is that the thread shrank(!!!) and the quilt became misshapen- because I had not washed the thread (?!) I am so confused - how do you all manage to wash a finished quilt? thank you!!

I always wash it first, to get stray threads, markings, etc off.
    Kind Regards,

I wash with free detergent (no scent or dyes). I want to wash off the quilt lines if any and I like to have the material pucker up. When I do consignment quilts I normally do not launder them but I do send instructions for laundering along.

I generally toss mine in the dryer with a damp towel. It takes the lint and stray hair off but leaves the crisp look.

I always wash and iron my quilts before giving to someone. I figure just the oils in your fingers and sometimes ordinary smells in the house i.e. cooking can cling to the fabric
