Okay people - I've always worn those scissors around my neck and never had a problem - until I posted this and ya'll started chiming in with your Pointy Thing Issues. So ... last night - just minutes after reading some of your posts - I sat down and when I got up somehow those scissors poked themselves into my thigh enough to leave dots of blood on my pants. The Curse of the Quilting Board????? Well, I'm not wearing them tonight and until I can put some of your good ideas to work I'll just keep hunting for where I lay them down!

I remember the vests, is there a pattern because they have been on my "mental to do list" since I saw the post. think they would make great gifts for my quilter friends.

    Default Tools around your neck

I did put my small scissors on a thing that goes around my neck but was uncomfortable. Decided to take a pin and pin it to my chair arm ao I could find them always. Works for me

I have a pattern for a wearable sewing caddy. It looks sort of like a shawl with wide ends that are make into pockets. It is reversible. One side has a single large pocket at both ends. The other side has a slotted pocket -- like you would put knives and forks into -- for a rotary cutter, etc., and a flap pocket.

I have never gotten around to making it, so I can't say much more about it. Looks good, though.

The package says The Thread Lady Mary Jo Martin, 118 Westlee Ln., Palm Coast FL 32164. The phone number given is 904-446-1012.

    It's copyrighted 1997. Don't know if it's still available.

BTW, it says it uses 1-1/2 yards of fabric and 1-1/4 yards of batting.

I created this little ditty from a spool of thread and sticky velcro!
I also use a sticky magnetic business card to hold pins quickly.
Love your idea...I am off to find me an empty spool and a magnet for my table..thanks

One could make a long rectangular scarf out of sturdy (denim) fabric which can wrap around your neck and hang down the front. Put pockets near the ends for your tools.

I have a small embroidery scissor that hangs on a ribbon around my neck. Once when I was in a class, I noticed the instructor had the same thing but she had attached a smaller ribbon from the scissors to her neck ribbon. When I asked her about it she said she has misplaced so many of her small embroidery scissors (and we all know how expensive that can be). So now she will have the scissors whenever she needs them as they are available but still attached to her. I thought this was a great idea and plan on doing the same thing.

As a p.s.......what I wear around my neck is a small case attached to a ribbon that the scissors slide into so there are no points to poke me.
