My first quilt is in the top of a closet and not too sure that I want to look at it again. With every new project you will learn something that you didn't know previously. I know I am still learning and so much of it is from this board. These people are awesome. Keep on quilting. pat

It is all about practice and making mistakes and not giving up. A year from now if you continue to keep on trying you be amazed at how much skill you will have acquired. I give so much credit to the videos by Missouri Star . There is nothing they can't teach you. Having this board and a mentor helps too. A good seam ripper is also must. Never thought I'd be so attached to mine.

Jenny from the Missouri Star company has a u-tube of how to do binding on your machine. I followed her method and it went well and was easy to see, follow and understand. Also use a walking foot. I have a Brother SC9500 which is very similar to your machine and the walking foot makes all the difference.

Welcome to the quilting world. It is a great way to express yourself.
I have finally found the method for binding that works for me. I don't like to hand sew and do it all by machine.
Be sure and watch Eleanor Burns for how to do the corners, there should be a video at her website.
To machine sew the final seam on my binding I use those red clips to hold the binding over the seam line. This way I can see the stitch line and follow it so that my seam is in the ditch on the right side.

Doesn't look like your little princess noticed the binding corners at all. Chalk it up to experience and just shoot to do better with each quilt. I think it looks great. Keep stretching your skills. We all started with a first quilt.
