    These were my thoughts exactly.

How do you have an "unpatterned" quilt unless it is crazy squares and even then, it is a pattern--a bunch of crazy blocks. ??

How about this log cabin with what looks like a square in different colour rotations. There are better designs but can't find them this morning. Oh pattern has mistakes. Is there a tutorial on this type of design?

He wants an art quilt in greens? It would be very complicated to include all of those colours! Maybe a simple applique pattern and a pieced border? I dunno. It sounds like he doesn't really know what he wants TBH....

The fabric says something for an out doors man maybe woods and animals,You dont say any thing about his likes and dislikes of hobbies or if he's a hunter, fisher, sports,or office type guy,or what they call a head hunter.
It would help to know a little of where he's coming from because of the colors he likes.

If you enjoy appliqué, Weidman's book re Outside the Box is wonderful to get you thinking beyond a specific pattern. Your hubby could sketch something and you could turn it into a quilt. It is much easier than it sounds!

Does he WANT a quilt? Or is this your idea? Maybe if he's not that into it, you should just let the idea simmer for a while and go about doing other projects.

Since you and he know what he doesn't like - is he willing to find some sample designs he does like? Not that you have to make the one he picks out but it does give you some direction which way to go. I know you've gotten a lot of super suggestions on here but in my opinion, he needs to be the one to show you what he's envisioning.

    Beautiful fabrics you've selected.

Those colors would be fabulous for a string quilt. Use old phone book pages for the foundation. Either use the blocks as is or quarter them and re-combine for fantastic dimensional blocks.
