Funny thread!
My husband likes everything I make. How can that be? Well, he finally told me he didn't like one. My BH mystery quilt. We both hate it and I doubt any of our boys will like it either. lol
Ever since our baby granddaughter was born we're both so over the moon that I buy tons of fabric to make her things. He's not one to say anything about purchases but Arden has made him completely uncaring of expenditures haha
I need to reign it in though. I've bought so much. Can you tell she's our first?

My husband is awesome. He knows and understands the lingo - we were at a quilt show and he pointed at one quilt and told me it would have been even more awesome if the quilter had trapunto'd certain parts of the quilt. And he was right. He teased me for using cheater panels in a quilt. And he bought me a 26" Innova on a 12' frame for Christmas. I don't think he's "trained", per se, I think he makes what is important to me, important to him. That's the best kind of husband. <3

I guess I never realized that men knew so little about quilting. My mother was a quilter, as is my wife. A year and a half ago, with her failing eye site, I started helping her with some aspects of her quilting. Decided to give it a try. I've now made about 10 quilts and have purchased my own Juki, plus I have my grandmothers 1937 cabinet Singer.

Good job on the husband training. Mine rarely says much about my quilts except "That's pretty" or something similarly neutral. lol. He knows how to stay out of trouble!

Mine will tell me if he likes it or not, (in a nice way) and sometimes make some suggestion, (in a nice way) when I show him the quilt I happen to be working on. He has gone to quilt shows with me and to the fabric store with me, and never complained about how long it can take to find just the right piece of material. Actually, one time not too long after I had just started quilting, he was with me at the fabric store and I couldn't figure out which color would look the best for the border. I hadn't noticed he had walked off until he came back with a couple of other ladies who were there shopping. They were real nice about it, and made a couple of suggestions that did work

Mine is great with colors. He will come
with me to buy fabric for a project that has me stumped. I don’t have a stash so unless it is a scrap or scrappy quilt I get new. No complaints about him except he can’t push a chair back under the table!!

No. my comment was not intended to be any kind of gender stereotype. Only to acknowledge the effort he has made to learn about a hobby of mine, which was previously completely foreign to him.

This is how females wives lovingly speak about their male husbands they adore in the presence of other female wives. Nothing mean or downgrading meant by it at all.

My DH becomes very concerned if I am not at my sewing machine in a long while and thinks I am sad or bothered about something as he know how much attention I pay to my quilting. I have to reassure him that I am ok. He loves to see even a single block of my work and goes gaga over finished quilts. He is quick with compliments. He wants them all on our bed and I have to remind him when a quilt is a gift that we can't sleep under "this one" He has already made claim to the one I am making now even though I had planned it as a Christmas gift for his sister. I am the luckiest woman to have such a quilt happy man! He never objects to anything I purchase for my quilting.
