Westalee templates/Sew Steady
I recently learned about Westalee templates and have seen some posts here. After watching their videos, I decided to
go ahead and buy one ruler to get started. When I went to the site, it posted that Sew Steady would
be the USA source for the Westalee products. Just wanted to let the group know what great customer
service I was shown by Sew Steady. Since I will be a newby to FMQ, wanted to try one particular ruler I had seen in the videos to see if I would want to continue to do FMQ and invest $ in templates. Thru e-mails back and forth with Mendy Tippets (owner of Dream World Northwest the parent company I think), she was able to identify the ruler I wanted (not yet in the catalogue) and I was able to order it. If I am successful, they will be my go to source for templates.
I have the Janome 6600 and already bought the adapter and ruler foot previously. Now just have to get
a project ready to try this FMQ.

The High Shank Foot does not need any adapter, it fit straight on to the Janome 6600 and many more. I am the owner of Westalee Design, the inventors and Sew Steady is the US manufacturer and Distributor in the USA

I tried using my Omnigrid ruler with trying to stitch some straight lines in a border to save time. it worked OK but it was difficult to move the ruler with when the quilt moved. I still prefer to follow a chalk line.

It seems I could have saved some money if I had learned about Westalee's ruler foot a couple of months ago. In order to use the templates that the long armers use, I had to buy the Janome convertible FMQ foot and then the Free motion frame quilting feet set which has Janome's ruler foot (it is what is used on the Janome 1600).
Sval...if you go to the Sew Steady site you can order their foot which will fit Janome machines--just have to specify low shank or high shank. Otherwise, you have to order from someone who carries Janome like Sewing Machines Plus or Ken's and that's having to buy an adapter and a foot.
