What batting have you used that works well for baby quilts?

I used to use light weight poly, until I saw a "fire" information video, poly MELTS, cotton doesn't melt and would take much longer before starting to burn. My son's family had a house fire. We never imagined it happening. NOW I USE 100% cotton, usually warm and white.

Quilter's Dream has a batting especially for baby quilts called Dream Angel. It is flame retardant. I haven't used it but have a sample and it feels like Dream Cotton. It comes in 2 weights - Request & Select.

Thanks for the suggestion of a flame retardant batting. Great to know.

Interesting question and responses. I prefer not to use polyester because of the chemicals. I use mostly Hobbs 80/20 but I do like the feel of Dream cotton. If my budget were bigger I would use wool or silk. No one mentioned silk in the comments above but I really like to use it. It is so drapable. I just prefer natural fibers to man made fibers. I never buy clothing of man made fibers as I don't like the feel of it or the lack of breathability. Quilts, even baby quilts, with polyester get too warm because of this. Babies and toddlers and the elderly do not like to be over heated.
