I feel like a stalker! Forgive me, please. I just ran across this and it is almost the pattern you are looking for. They call it Pie because of the piecing in the circle, but can be adjusted for a solid. It is the July 1, 2016 pattern. https://www.bearcreekquiltingcompany...the-week-2016/

Looked like the Melons one to me. Scroll down on the above link and see what you think.

Looks like Pie, but they appliquéd the quarter circles over the square. I have resigned myself to the fact that i will have to make my own template.... Thanks for helping me research!

I give up, sorry I steered you wrong. Now I cannot find the book I thought it was in.

I think it was with your template only starting with a much large square so that the one block had room for both circle parts. I think that I would experiment with the block size to get what I wanted. Good luck!

Leah Day lumps it into the Drunkards Path group - she has a "cheater" version here

agree. i need to go chase yellow jackets out of truck i tried to load brush into yesterday, but i've seen this block used in vintage string scrap quilt. i drew the pattern idea & worked it out. just draft your own drunkards path block templates. easy to do ...draw a square and use a compass to ensure both arcs are equal. the quilt i saw was wonderful

I used this block as a "joiner" in a NYB that did not have NYB blocks next to each other. The quilt was called "Caliope" by Karen Neary from her book Quilting Beauties. She called it a NYB center template. BTW, my quilt won 1st place & VC at my guild challenge contest.

It is an early 1900 pattern called "Steeplechase". I made this using feed sacks. I had a template and pieced my blocks. I used a template from an old, old quilt magazine. This free one is applique but you may be able to find a pieced one online.
