Wow, that brings back wonderful memories. I learned how to sew on a machine exactly like that. It was my Mother's and she gave it to me when I left home for college. I was the most popular girl in the dorm because I had the sewing machine....I met just about everyone in the dorm. The first year I was married, my husband bought me a surprise Christmas gift....a new Singer machine but he traded in my mother's machine to get it. I almost killed him.

I'll take that over the ISMACS list...even tho I have TONS of respect for the experts at ISMACS!
Awww.... You just made my little heart do a happy dance! Got nothing against New Jersey!! But I am delighted she was made in Scotland! That is very special for me for a myriad of reasons! Thank you Charlee!

Now that you mention this ... I remember it said StJ, Canada .... and I wondered if it was St. John's, Nfld or St. Johns, NB. And as I mentioned, I'm not sure which models were Canadian made. It'd be so nice for it to be a Canuck, even if not from The Rock!!!
Well I may have to do some researching! The site I saw clearly said St. John's with the apostrophe s. The New Brunswick city is St. John without the s. I have a friend who does archive searches for the government, I might persuade her to take a detour some time and see if Singer ever set up shop here!
