I've started to do FMQ with the feed dogs up and get much better results - and it's almost eliminated birds nests. Always worth trying if you're having problems.

Sounds like Brother could teach the other firms a thing or two about service - I've been battling with my dealer and Janome for 6 years over my lemon of a machine.

Don't know if this will help, try a size 16 needle. You are going thur a lot of layers.

When I had a Bernina, I had to change the bobbin tension for FM quilting. I kept one bobbin case just for that. (My Janome has a separate bobbin case type designated for FM also.) Having your bobbin thread NOT on top for starting makes a differnce too. Sometimes lint can cause this problem. It can hide in all sorts of places. Poor dealer help was only one of my Bernina problems. My Janome dealer will talk me through things like this over the phone!
