Is this the beginning? If so did you pull your bobbin thread to the top?

I use the bobbin genie bobbon washers. They are made of teflon and are made specifically to eliminate the birdsnests.

I had a friend that purchased the 820 also. She had problems from day one. One thing after another. We worked with her machine tension for 6 hours trying everything we had been taught in the past from repairmen and dealers. She contacted Bernina, she worked with the dealer tech. NOTHING WORKED! Bernina dealer worked with her, she ended up trading up to the 830 and has never had another problem. She did mention that she has become a true believer in the aurofil thread. Sorry, you are having a problem. Don't give up.

I also have a Bernina and anytime you start quilting you need to bring that bobbin thread up to the top.

I have a Bernina 150 QE and the only time it does this is when I turn too fast to the left. If I am FMQ and want to loop-de-loop to the left I HAVE to go slowly or this is exactly what I get. It does not happen when I loop-de-loop to the right! Clear as mud?

Have you done the bobbin tension thread test? Once I have the bobbin tension adjusted, I rarely change it. Scroll down to Bobbin Adjustment on this site.

if it messes up on the bottom it is the top threading or tension

It looks like it could be a tension problem. You can see the top thread peeking through. I use Kig Tut with Bottomline all the time. I had problems and working with the tension everything worked out fine. You can also get some help through Superior Thread since you are using their thread. They are very, very helpful. Good luck! I have a Bernina 440 and the Mega quilter.

I had this problem with a new Viking - From the beginning I was taught two important things: If your stitches are messing up, the problem is in the top of your machine. I check the bobbin and bobbin case, and always "rethread the machine from the spool to the needle" - it works everytime. I always pull the bobbin thread to the top and hold the threads to the back for the first 2-3 stitches (don't pull them, just hold them so they won't get caught up when the machine starts sewing. If the threads get caught up even with one stitch, it can create havoc from that point. I was also told that when quilting - machines work better if you always use good quality cotton thread in the bobbin. There are so many variables with so many machines out there....good luck. Let us know what fixes the problem.

Yes, that nest in the picture is my top thread. I hold both thread tails when I begin quilting and take several stitches before letting them go. This nesting is happening randomly throughout the the quilting. It will be going along perfectly and then nest up then jump right back correctly and move along. Like I said before, sometimes I can hear it happen (sounds a little like the machine is bogged down for a second) but other times I don't know it's happened until I turn the quilt over.

Today I'm going to try the topstitching needles my husband brought home and I'm going to put a heavier weight thread in my bobbin.

I wouldn't be so frustrated if this was the first problem I was having with this machine but it's been one thing or another from day one. I'm just getting really tired of fighting with it.
I really do think it may be your Bobbin.... start from an empty bobbin and wind a new one... and don't go fast let the thread wind evenly, and see if it going up and down equally being distributed if this is nt it, then I would take it into a shop and have him do a quick check to see if it might be minor as a tight bobbin tension ... I would not try to adjust it myself... it could mess it up more... you might also have some broken threads trapped in the bobbin carriage... hope you get this solved... i hate when anything interrupts my sewing!!!
