Default What a change in quilts sine the 80's!

I just happened to thumb through a quilt magazine from the mid 80's and I was amazed! Our tastes in quilts, and our sophistication in quilt styles has certainly changed in 25 years! The patterns were extremely simplistic in that magazine compared to now.

How has your taste in quilting changed in the last 10, 20, or 30 years?

While I love the classics my taste is ever changing. Also, my color choices are different. I used to hate lime green,
I find now that I include it many of my scrappy quilts. It makes all the other colors pop! I think it is a good thing to change, grow, and expand our craft/art.

You are so right! I have quilt magazines going back to the 70's, and there is a world of difference! I am partial to the traditional quilts, but I like the newer ones too. I especially like the faster, and better ways of making them.

I recently had to take all of my junk out of our attic and found boxes and boxes of old quilt magazines. I just cannot part with them even though very few even had colored pictures. None of the quilts even had borders. Did find one that had a "newest products" section and they had a rotary cutter and mat listed as a new gadget!!!

I still love the traditional patterns, but I love some of the more complex ways we have to set blocks together today. I love the challenge of the intermediate patterns.
