I don't like ecru or off whites. I love white on white and use a lot of it. I think it makes the pattern pop.

I only keep about 1 yard of black, and I don't buy any muddy shade of brown.I buy tan and cinnamon. I don't buy much gray unless it is silvery gray.

White! I have like none. It is just too stark and with 14 kids not a good thing.

Same here and now I avoid swaps like that. The quilt behind my little girls is the only white/tone on tone quilt I ever made. It started out as making blocks for a swap and I did not get done in time. So I was left with 7 blocks and ended up making more to atleast have a quilt. Besides the picture it now lives in my closet and is a back up quilt for when it is cold. Atleast I got to add orange, one of my all time favorites.

Maybe that whole swap was not meant to be because the people that wanted tone on tone white background would have probably not enjoyed my choice of orange as a second color. LOL I think orange is one of the colors most people do not like. Odly enough I do no Halloween quilts ever.

Beige. I really, really can't make myself buy a color that boring. I need it once in awhile, and think to myself "I should buy some next time i see it on sale" but when the moment comes, I would rather buy any other (bright) color because they're just what I like.

Also, i buy very little black. I tend to go for midnight blues instead.

I agree with you Dingle. I like almost all the colors but not so much on the oranges unless the quilt needs it .
