I stuck with a soft white, so as to reflect as much natural light as possible without changing the color much. Boring, but functional - my room has very limited natural light so I need all the help I can get in there. If you have a lot of natural light you can probably get away with a color...I would lean towards something like a soft yellow or soft blue. Neutral-ish, so as to not influence your quilting color choices!

Basically, it's your choice. My room has been the same color for about 10 years. Not going to change it since I hate to paint. I get enough lighting as it's a small room with a large double window. So much that I have to double check to see if I left the light on. It's a very bright yellow but easy on the eyes. Whatever color you like. I would definitely stay away from anything medium to dark.

My room is currently a bright lemon yellow.....just doesn't cut it with me....time to repaint, but too many things to finish first.....next paint job will be an OSU gray with red trim and a big "O" on one wall.....my sewing room has to make me happy when I am in there, so being Ohio State colors will definitely make me happy!

I had a pale lavender picked out for mine, but our kid with the art degree said that the walls would reflect and affect my perception of color. So, even though I have lots of natural light, my walls are "white dove" and the carpet is cream. Of course, when our kids come to visit and try to wander in with cups of coffee, I am tempted to put police tape across the doorway. But it's great for finding pins and needles.

I have two adjoining rooms. The bigger one is a pale tan gray color called Sandstorm and the other one is very creamy ivory. The trim is a aged ivory color in both rooms. Ceilings and doors are the same color as the trim. It took me weeks to decide on the color, then I picked out the flooring in one hour. LOL
