I am getting ready to start a log cabin quilt. Should I us black or white thread for this. The fabric that I am using is many different colors. I am attaching a picture of the fabric that I am going to us. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Robyn

Have you ever used gray? It is a great neutral and you will be amazed at how it "disappears"! I would use a medium gray for the colors you are showing.

The color of thread that I use a lot of is sort of a medium greenish gray - approximately the color of the water after dying a bunch of Easter eggs.

It blends in amazingly well with a lot of colors - even reds.

I definitely would not use black.

I had not even thought of using gray. This is why this board is so great. I just love it here. Now I just need to get some gray thread.

Grey or navy. They will both blend in quite well. And, will save tons of strain on your eyes if you ever have to take out any stitches.

Awesome color selection, BTW, for you quilt. Hope you post finished pictures.

I use taupe/cream for all of my piecing - it's a great neutral. The one I use is Mettler silk-finish #50.
