I'm a beige-y person. however, another quilter painter her room yellow and it looked bright and a place that one would want to work in.

Mine is a very soft pale pink. A cool pink. I have 4 big windows also. Love it!!
Any light or pale color that YOU like is the way to go! Don't worry about neutrals or such, just pick what you will be happy with. You will be spending many hours in there! :)

I'll be interested in this topic also as I will be moving into an apartment the middle of August and the renovation will start in May sometime.

The bedroom I sew in is about to be refurbished....wallpaper off, lighter paint on. I will probably paint it a tinted white color so that more light is reflected. Not too white, tho as the rest of the house is relatively colorful. I have also
noticed that color reacts with other color....so having a plainer wall would give me a truer reading on the colors I choose.

i did mine in a "clear" yellow(no gold tones in it, nor did it look like a banana moved in! :XD: )

i love it, it is nice and cheery..and i can accent in teal or red or green or blue, when i want a "change"..

If the prime criteria for color choice is for the true colors of the quilt you will be quilting to be not influenced by the wall color of your room, you might want to consider this. I remember once doing a color study for a weaving project. We were looking for a color to surround other colors so that the other colors would "pop" without being influenced by the red or the yellow or the blue in the outside color. Do you know what color worked beautifully?? A true grey!! White made colors looked washed out; black did not work for some colors--too stark; other colors influenced the tone or hue of the interior colors. So, perhaps you could use a soft pale grey . . . and use curtains and your quilting fabrics to provide the color we all crave.
