Have got a black and white queen quilt made for my DD and am now ready to quilt it. Looked for colours to quilt it with but am not able to decide. My DD is happy for me to decide what colour to do but we agreed that it should be subtle rather than bright. Was thinking of either black or white. Have you any suggestions. I am not experienced with quilting and will either do meandering or stitch in the ditch, unless you have any ideas for a novice at FMQ.
Thanks for any help. I attach a picture of the quilt before I sandwiched it.

Great quilt. Love the polka dots!
I am not experienced at the quilting part either. If you do the stitch in the ditch I don't think the thread shows on the front of the quilt, so I think it would depend on what color your backing is.

What about a steel grey color?? that would show up on the black as well as the white - if that is what you were wishing - but would also blend I think - that is how I handled the black and white in my avitar

Thank you for your ideas. The back is the reverse of one of the fabrics on the front. It is white with black swirly lines - called scroll apparently. The idea of steel grey sounds good and I might give that a try.

I was also thinking of a gray -

It would "show" on both the black and white - but I don't think it would be "obvious" on either color.

Grey is the color that I would choose also. :)

Looks like gray gets the thumbs up. Thanks again. Am now off to bed as here in England it is 23.15. Red would be a good choice if it wasn't for the fact that my DD is decorating her bedroom around the quilt and I quess I am a little wary of adding a colour that she may not use in her bedroom. She has said that she wants something to hand down to her children that has been made by me. I love my DD!.
