    -is it reasonably priced?
    -do i have the money?
-if i spend the money will i still be able to buy groceries, gas and pooch food?

A fabric budget? That's a novel concept. :D I really should do that though. I buy online a lot and come time to pay the credit card bill I am often quite surprised that I spent so much.

I usually buy what catches my eye or imagination, which would usually be a focal fabric of some type. Then I buy to go with it.

If I'm missing that one piece, I take DH with me and watch in wonder (and sometimes in dismay) to which shelf he goes (and you should see the man head into the fabric world with great purpose). He ALWAYS finds something and it is usually something out of left field. He is the best.

Sometimes, a certain fabric will scream my name. Then i walk around the fabric shop "bonding" with it and deciding how much of it to buy. Fat quarters just aren't enough when there are batiks involved. The last trip to a fabric shop found a beautiful batik.....a brand new bolt and my friend with me said to buy the whole bolt but I settled on 6 yards. I wouldn't want to run out. ;)
