I'm ready to invest in a larger cutting board. I've been using the same one since I began quilting almost a year ago. I went to Joanns and they have 3 makes, Fiskars, Olfa and Dritz. I want a self healing typle so maybe one brand is better than another. Which one do you use and would you recommend any one in particular. :?: :?: :D

I think all my mats & rulers are Omnigrids, but they are over 10 yrs. old. I've read that you should match the mat to the main ruler you are using, but don't know if that's a big deal if you watch your measurements.

I use a plain cutting matt as the numbers on them combined with the numbers on the rulers confuse me! Works for me.:)

I have a Duraheal and love it. I have had it for at least 12 years.

Im an Olfa person. Just stay away from the white ones. They ruin blades very fast.

I have an Olfa, Fons and Porter, and Martinelli. The Martinelli is the nicest but it was far too expensive (quilt show) purchase. I then like the Olfa.

I have a few different brands but prefer my OLFA cutting mat, but that may be because it was the first one I bought and am used to it's measure. Each one is different with respect to marking from right to left or vice-versa. Olfa also has a nice one that moves like a lazy susan which is nice for smaller projects.

I prefer Olfa! I have 4 of them. Also have a gray (Fiskars?) but never use it.

I love my Martelli. It has lasted longer than any other mat for me and it seems the rotary blades don't dull anywhere as quickly as with the other mats.

    Expensive but well worth it.
