Oh I love the idea of both sides having those items on there. Very cute idea. If you decide to do something different, you can maybe use the squares with a border and frame them for the wall above the crib or changing table? Maybe do three of them that way in a colored frame, with the 4th on the back side to incorporate into your label?

Do you have to use all of the squares on one quilt? I like the idea of using the 4 extra for the back, however, you could "save" those squares for another quilt. Maybe make a nap blanket for the child to use at daycare or in the car.

I think you may need more length and width. You can add them at top/bottom/or side to fill in the quilt. You also could make bibs or burp clothes.

I don't think baby quilts should be small. Those babies grow so fast that what was cute (IMHO) at one time is no longer useful when they want to build a fort, hide under a card table, etc.

How about an album for photos - yellow with little girl square appliquéd on the front and back. Make a 2nd using the house squares for Mom's special notes.

I agree with using the smaller squares of the back. With 2 borders, the quilt will be a nice size for on the couch or in the stroller and would be two sided. This would also make is easy to do some echo quilting and STID. Another advantage is how quickly it would go together!

I would make them into a coordinating wall hanging.

I would definitely use them as corner stones and add a border to the center panel. I normally make my baby quilts 48" W and 58 - 60" long. They can use the quilt for years and become attached to them.

Use the squares as corner stones & make 2-3 borders to equal their size in diff. colors from the panel then maybe a final border around the whole. in this way the quilt will be useful for a few years.

I's put them in an L-shape with the main panel off center--3 up the side and 1 up top. This won't leave even spacing, so where the extra space is, I would add baby's name or birth info. or some other little something.
