I use an altoid tin for most of my metal trash and a water bottle for the stuff that doesn't fit.

I was going to add a link to Harikuyo but see it is already mentioned here.

I put my small broken/used bits in jars like these

I just grab a piece of paper or cardboard stick the pin in it and pitch it into the trash. It's a sharp piece of metal. It will hurt you if you don't dispose of it. Anyone up to date on their tetanus shots. Stuck myself good over the weekend. Called the doctor and got a tetanus. Had been a few years about 7 so got a booster.

Thank you, isn't it a lovely thing to do. This little ceremony allows me to take time and remember the projects I have worked on and who they were for and to give thanks for having something as simple as a pin or needle to work with.
I find it to be a nice time to reflect on my blessings.

Put them in an empty pill bottle and when it gets full (it takes a long time) tape it shut and label the container with the appropriate information for the recycle bin if you have one. If not, it will have to go to the landfill, but is not likely to cause anyone any damage because of the container. froggyintexas

I have bathrooms at work that have the needle disposal boxes (meant for diabetic syringes, etc) so I could always throw them there too I suppose. What do y'all do with them?

I also use old needles to hang pictures up if they aren't too heavy.

I put mine in a test strip container. It has an attached lid that snaps shut. Then throw in trash when filled.

The DH took a clean used food jar, drilled a small hole in the top, then painted the top bright red for me. It is easy to find in the mess I call a sewing room, easy to drop in a needle or pin and when I change blades on my rotary cutter, I can take off the lid and drop those used dull cutters in as well.

When it is full, I will transfer the lid to another jar and put another lid on this one, tape it and throw it away.
