I keep mine in a cute jar than jam came in. It will never be filled during my lifetime so when my kids are cleaning out my things they will have confirmation that their mom did indeed save the craziest stuff. I can hear them talking about it now...

This really works well for anything light. But you don't need a point on the needle. In fact it's better without the point. I use a pliers and snap the point off a dull needle. You only need it to be about an inch long.

The little points go into my sharps container with a little hole in it on the window sill in my sewing room. It won't get "lost" there.

I keep mine in an old pill bottle.

However, one time in a gallery I saw an "art" piece that was nothing more than two sewing machine needles with two lifesavers having on them looking like eyes so I guess I'm throwing away the ingredients for great art work.

When we first found out that my dog was diabetic & I had to give her shots a couple times a day I started putting the needles in a empty laundry detergent bottle. That is where I put my sewing machine needles too. I used a pill bottle before that just for sewing machine needles

I love this idea. Oh my, I have a pill container full of needles and bent pins. Now, I can reuse the needles. Hang blocks etc. Thank you

I don't just want to throw them in the trash (hence why I've been keeping them in the old box). I have bathrooms at work that have the needle disposal boxes (meant for diabetic syringes, etc) so I could always throw them there too I suppose. What do y'all do with them?

Ahh... why didn't that occur to me?? I knew there was a reason I save them.

When I was cleaning out my Aunt's house we ran across lots of "sharps" type items. I found out that our local fire department will take them for proper disposal. What they told us is that it is better to go the medical "sharps" route than expecting a pill bottle to survive in a land fill. The companies that collect the sharps containers are usually fair with them when they know they are helping keep dangers out of the land fills.

I put mine in empty pill bottles, seal and write on them what is in them.

I use them to hang frames on the wall. They stick out far enough they are easier to catch on the hanging hardware than a headed nail.
