I'm very much an impulse shopper. I do know what I already have and what I need to go with that. But in a situation like this I tend to hit the clearance section first, then the section with fabric for costuming since that is usually pretty high dollar elsewhere, then I check out the $1 table (watching for flaws as this is a common problem with things discounted that much), and finally get to the quilting section and hope I can still have $ left by this point.

I would definitely have a "plan", so you don't get in trouble and deviate! :)

I used to do this. I bought what I really liked in the colors I used most. I used to buy by the bolt. I would keep what I wanted and sell off the rest! That way, what I sold pretty much paid for what I kept! I used to sell fabrics on eBay!
