what to do with tie dyed strips
I started a small group of 6 friends, with various sewing capabilities, and we've worked on a couple of projects together. We decided to do a log cabin baby quilt and give it to a local charitable group to auction off. I was the one who needed to choose the fabric. Tough job for me. Well, I found a tie-dyed looking batik fabric in soft pinks and blues, and I thought we could use the lighter shades of it for the light strips and the darker shades for the dark strips--there were even some small areas of yellow that were perfect for the center squares. It's working out well, I think. They all mastered the 1/4" seam and are being very careful about measuring each block after adding their strips--it's going painfully slowly, but we're getting there.
Here's my question: We are picking out the very light and very dark areas from the strips I cut, but we're left with a lot of midrange 2 1/2" strips. Does anyone have any idea of something we could do with those? I already bought a nicely matching fleece for the backing, so I don't want to use them for that.
Thanks!
Carol
