I used to use powdered creamer in my morning coffee. I had plenty of the empty plastic containers that the creamer came in, and I use those to put my used rotary blades and pins and needles in. The lid has a pouring spout that I can open and close for the pins and needles, and I can unscrew the lid for the blades. I have them marked in magic marker, and I will make sure they are taped super well when I toss them....there are about 3 in use right now, as my DH has one in his hobby room also for craft blades. From the dust on the lid of the last one, you can tell that it's been in use for quite a while.

My daughter bought a container of chewing gum that is a perfect size to discard blades , needles and pins. I keep it near the sewing machine , when full I dispose of it in the trash....I know....filling the landfill with items that stay forever. I do not know what else to do with them!

Same and will probably last for ages before it's full! Make sure you mark on the bottle what's inside before you chunk it..
