NOTIONS, NOTIONS, NOTIONS!! They recently had a 70% off your entire purchase coupon on their notion wall and I tore it up! Hand & machine needles, bobbins, thimbles, marking pens, pencils and markers, seam rippers, etc. at 70% off I was able to purchase several thimbles to try as I am in search of the perfect thimble! I had a big bag of things for under $20.
and Nammie what do you do with headliner fabric?

Joann's has decent fabric but you have to look and feel for it. Their sales are brilliant - I bought a fabulous quilting light on a stand - the Ott light, which I like a lot. I buy notions there as they have Dritz, F&P and so on. Sewing machine needles - I don't always need a titanium needle from superior threads, for sure.

I do most of my shopping online. If I need to physically pick up something, I go to Hancock, because it is more convenient for me. Hobby Lobby is so big, I get lost! I've never been in Joann, though there is one in town. I would look at Wal-Mart, but the nearest one doesn't have fabric. I really dislike shopping, so online is my first choice.

I do agree that their prices are inflated so they can advertise discounted prices. I have found Jo Anns to have more lesser quality fabric than they did years ago. The best deals are using the discount coupons on the sewing notions and battings. The store in my area has very poor help and changes a lot,,,looks like a poor work environment but I am sure other stores have help that is trained better. Even a smile would welcome more people into their store. JHO
I buy Warm and Natural batting, some thread, Kona muslin or Kona Black, Heat and Bond, Temporary spray adhesive, gridded interfacing, and Sewing Machine needles. Once in a while a package of rotary cutting blades. I shop the sales and use coupons .. I vow to not pay full price at Jo'Anns since their regular prices seem inflated to me.

I never shop at the store any more. They're over priced, under stocked, and the one here is now focused on art supplies in an unsuccessful attempt to compete with the Michael's down the road. I do buy a 35 yard bolt of Wonder Under with a 50% coupon once a year or so at JoAnn's online, but the physical store could burn down and I wouldn't notice.

I only buy non-fabric items. I try to buy fabric at my LQS just to help keep them in business. So many have closed over the past few years which saddens me. But the cost of fabric is so expensive nowadays.

I don't know about Nammie but I use the headliner fabric in bags and wallets. I have ever since I tore apart a Vera Bradley wallet that was worn out and I wanted to use it as a pattern to make one just like it. It sure looks like headliner fabric inside those bags and wallets!!!
