    I had the same thing happen to me. So I have a banquet table in my sewing room. I took PBV and extended the legs to make it higher and my back pains went away.

    When home was remodeled I designed my large kitchen island for cutting on, no sink or stove in it. Try large tubing to raise table legs up for cutting height. I've seen great ideas on this. We do this at retreat with tables and works ok.

    I have one from Joann's I got on a good sale several years ago and I really like it. You may also consider putting your table on those bed risers? If you don't use the table that much anymore it should work out well and perhaps save a few $$.

    I certainly understand where you're coming from. I lucked out and have 6 of the pattern cabinets (back to back), filled with fabric (LOL), then have a 2 piece counter top for my cutting table. One of the best thing about it, is that it's the perfect height for me, plus it's about 5' wide and 7' long.

    I use my old dining room table, but my dear DH put extenders on the legs. He raised the table height 6-7", what a great help for my back. Just a suggestion.

    I found some very inexpensive bed risers at Big Lots for $5 and I found them to be more stable than the PVC pipe and the table was raised to a good height for me. I also have the Joannes table with the cutting mat which cost extra but is a must have. By all means use 50% off coupons for these.

    I found out that the Horn Hi Lo table is also available here in the US, just google Horn of America and it will be one of the first 3 site-can't remember which one it was, it doesn't quote a price but you can put in your zip code and will tell you the closest dealer to you. I couldn't find the one closest to me when I was out driving so am planning to give them a call to get the price. It did give the dementions on the website. It weighs 252# so you know it is sturdy!!!

    One of my neighbors gave me an old home made drafting table and for working on my glass, I took and old 6 ft office conference table with folding legs and sat it up on 4 concrete blocks in my basement. they both work great . No bending.
