I like to wash mine, throw in a color catcher. I like the look of them after washing, plus I can make sure there is no issues where a thread came apart or whatever.

I never wash them, but I always include washing and drying instructions along with a Colour Catcher and instructions for use.

Always wash mine with color catchers before giving away. I do like the new fabric look but don't want the recipient to be shocked when it crinkles up when it is dried the first time. Also I can make sure there are no issues with popping seams.

I always wash when finished. for several reasons. #1 handling the quilt has added your body oil, if it drug on the floor, or other wise picked up dirt (from pets or sloppy children) none of this is deliberate. #2 to check for fabrics fading. this is just what comes to the top of my head. I always wash baby quilts in ALL FREE.

I do wash quilts before giving them away but do not wash wall-hangings!

Always wash before gifting. I'm a smoker and have a dog and three cats, so washing first is pretty much a must.

 me too! One exception was a baby quilt I had used weird stuff on to mark my quilting pattern and it needed to be washed to get it off.

I always wash mine. Moreover, if I was the recipient i would want to receive a clean quilt.
