I don't pre-wash fabric but I do wash the completed quilt. Try as I might to keep pet hair away from everything (and my pets are NEVER in actual contact with quilts that will be gifted), I still feel better washing any airborne flotsam away.

And I like the wrinkled look, too. :)

I wash all before leaving my house just throw in a couple color catchers and I love the quilted look that they come out to be.

I haven't in the past, but I think I will start, it makes sense somehow.

Thank you so much everyone for the responses. I pre washed the material but I think I will wash in when complete. Like I said this is a wedding gift for my niece getting married next weekend. As soon as I get the binding and label done I will post a finished picture.
    Thanks again!

I wash mine a couple of times, it helps to identify loose seams and removes those pesky strings/threads. I also us Snuggle fabric softener, it makes them smell so nice. My doctors always knows when I have an appointment by the way the office smells when I am there.

I never wash fabric or quilt before I sew. I always fouble sew my seams when I sew, so there are no OOOPS!!!!!!. Make mine to hold under any circumstances. rather do it to start with than have to fix.
