RULES??? Are there quilting rules? Uh Oh. Does that mean I am in trouble? Are the Quilt Police coming?

My rule: Never follow a pattern exactly no matter how much you like it. Put a little of yourself in it. Make it your own. You will be glad you did.

I use steam when I paper piece. Yes, the paper curls. No big. I just want the fabric to lay down so my cuts are precise.

If there are hard and fast rules I probably break them all. I do my binding by pressing in half then pressing half again on one side so I can turn it over to stitch it down by hand on the back of the quilt (did that make any sense?). I don't prewash no matter what the colors are (no problems so far), I cheat with borders or blocks "made easy" for my quilting. All in all I just enjoy myself, if there are rules I really don't pay much attention. Oh and I don't set my seams first while ironing, nor do I always press them the right direction. The more I think about it the more stuff I come up with-oh well!!!!!!!

Rules, rules, rules, Who made them and who says they need to be followed? Have fun and let your creative juices flow. Grace

I machine bind, I fudge to make things fit instead of ripping out, I don't press as much as I should. But I always fill each quilt with oodles and oodles of love!

Okay I do not pre-wash either. I use sheets for backing. I do not use cotton thread with cotton fabric. I know there is probably alot more stuff I do that is considered against the quilting rules. I make my own rules and do what I like and what I feel I can afford
