I use them for hemming if I can match the colors - or for piecing when I have multi-colored blocks or strips

I am like BellaBoo and remove the thread from the bobbin and use it to make "fabric" that I use for flowers etc... I never waste a small piece.

I have the red dbobbin donut and have my partial bobbins placed in it. I arrange them from light to dark and use them on any project that comes up. I also have prewound my own neutral bobbins in the donut. It is placed beside my sewing machine so that I can see them and not forget that they are there.

oh my.. I am such a "use it up" person that it pains me to toss anything in the trash.. so unless I just have to I use all those short of thread bobbins when I make something like rag bowls or string quilts.. I would rather change the bobbin 10 times than throw thread away. I say, use it up any way you can!

I use them up on my next project that will match the bobbin. I never throw thread away. I am frugal that way.

My machine dealer gives free bobbins when ever you want them so I have lots of bobbins. To help empty bobbins, I use the thread to hand sew binding on or hems and hand work that needs doing. However, if it is a lot of thread and I need the bobbin, I have been known to wind the thread back onto the spool of thread. Yes, I can be very thrifty.

use them up sewing the blocks together. i do alot of scrappy so it doesn't matter since it doesn't show anyway. also i've made thread bowls. just put the tread in between 2 peices of water solvible like bellaboo does. sew it together but after the web is taken off i fit over a bowl and trim excess off. let dry. then i like to use stiffener on it to hold its shape. let dry again. also put plastic wrap over the bowl or shape first. before taking it off the web you can also sew ribbon or rickrack around the top.

Do you pull it off the bobbin or ????
    1/4 I'd keep. About 1/8th I pull off.

If I run out of empty bobbins before I use up the odds and ends of left over bobbins, I buy another package of empty bobbins.
