WOW
Seems quilter have alot in common........
I too have worked on family tree, love to cook, being with family and friends..... have been working with granddaughter teaching her to quilt.
Love to knitt and crochet and walking was my passion till I did my foot in
Walked 5 to 6 miles a day and not can't do any walking...... just gives me more time to quilt and do other crafts.
attached are a few of the dolies iIhave made.

horses--in the barn, pastures, or in the lanes working with them, or in the barn, pastures cleaning up after them, or feeding them, which creates the vicious cycle having to clean up after them.
teaching 5th graders--(very time consuming)
Now that there's only 1 week to go before sumer break ( :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ) I'll be kayaking a LOT! (after chores)
photography (You've all been subjected to those  )
gardening (ditto to above)
I thought when I got older, I'd take more naps, read more books, but the older I get the more energy I seem to have--too much to relax to enjoy a book. :? I'm beginning to feel it's a curse!! I WANT to read a good book!!

Wow!! It sure looks like a LOT of us like to read. I don't get to as much as I used to. When Jim is at work I like to take the quiet time for my quilting. When he is home he wants to talk to me and there is no way I could concentrate on a book. But when I get the chance I like Agatha Christie.
Rhonda, Which Pilgrims are you descended from? From my Mom I got John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley.
Gaigai, have you thought about putting all your genealogy info onto a flash drive and just bringing your laptop? (or do you have one?) Beats having to rent a large vehicle.
barnbum, my mother was a teacher too. Fourth Grade.
Oh the doilies were gorgeous!! (forget who put the pic. Sorry)

when i'm not quilting, i'm thinking about what i should be quilting or working on. I like to read, knit dishrags, collect recipes, play with my cats, hang out with my friends, church, camping. DH and i just bought a house on Lake Huron(Michigan) for vacationing. It needs a lot of cleaning as it was let go and sat empty for a year. That will take some time-then i can paint, decorat and furnish it. DH will be retiring soon and i have 2 grandsons(7and 4) that live nearby so i help with them too. busy busy but i love it!

I read, webcam my daughter and her family in California. I have tried and tried to knit socks, but my knitting comes out with the inside of the knitting on the outside.
I keep thinking that my stitches are not twisted, but it still comes out inside out. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong.
I've started the socks 8 or 9 times and I'm still doing the same thing. So I tried a baby hat and wouldn't you know...the same. Inside out.
So I guess I'll stick to sewing.

Read, have a list I carry with me of favorite authors' books and check them off after I have them in my possession and underline them when I have actually READ them! Have found I can request books and books on CD from the local library, about 2 blocks from me, and they email me when they are in and I can just go pick them up! Love to listen to books on Tape when I am sewing. (Don't have to look up!)
During the summer we have an outdoor theatre built for the 1904 World's Fair, here in Forest Park that puts on a new musical each week and I try to attend all 7 of their productions! (My friends and I go to the free seats)
Yard work, playing with indoor critters, and keeping up with friends takes time!
Work part time at my church, hand quit with the ladies there 2 full days a week.
And of course, this board!

well let me see in summer there is:
bikeriding (mountain biking)
recreational boating in which we cruise along a river all morning with friends and then tie up at a pub and have lunch and listen to the band..very relaxing!
Cooking pizzas outside in our pizza oven
Quilting which i do all year round whenever i have time.
I also enjoy:
gardening
Renovating the house as there is always something that needs doing.
Cooking with my husband with an endless glass of wine each.
Holidaying..hoping to go on a cruise next year
Having a long weekend at a hotel in the city and only doing what you feel like..
